BINIBINING PILIPINAS 2013 BUILD HOMES FOR TYPHOON VICTIMS
The golden batch of Binibining Pilipinas traded in their sky-high heels and cocktail dresses for rubber shoes and denim jeans for a day when they assisted in building homes for typhoon victims in Tanay, Rizal on March 13. Led by Bb. Pilipinas Charities, Inc., chairperson Stella Marquez Araneta, Tanay Mayor Rafael Tanjuatco, and Gawad Kalinga officials, the 50 candidates took part in the Bayanihan build at the Julio Iglesias-Araneta Center GK Village. Apart from assisting in the build, the candidates also spent time with the children of the beneficiaries. The Julio Iglesias-Araneta Center GK Village is a P20 million housing project for calamity victims. The project came to being when music icon Julio Iglesias offered to donate the proceeds from his concert to build homes for families displaced by typhoons. The Araneta Center partnered up with Gawad Kalinga for the cause. Ten homes have already been completed so far, out of 160 homes. All homes are expected to be completed by early next year. The Gawad Kalinga Bayanihan build is just one of the many activities celebrating 50 beautiful years of Binibining Pilipinas. On March 18, the golden batch of candidates will be officially presented to the media during the Press Presentation. Coronation night will be held on April 14 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. The Bb. Pilipinas 2013 pageant is presented by the Araneta Center, ABS-CBN and Cream Silk; and sponsored by Pond’s, San Miguel Beer, Petron Corporation, Casino Filipino/PAGCOR, Ginebra San Miguel, San Miguel Foods and San Miguel Power. Other partners are Avon, Jag, Pizza Hut, Philippine Airlines, David’s Salon, Gold’s Gym, Dale Carnegie, Enterprenuers School of Asia, Charter Ping An Insurance Corporartion, Joylong Philippines, Philippine Daily Inquirer and Picture City.
