FIFTY FOR 50: BB. PILIPINAS 2013 PRESENTS OFFICIAL CANDIDATES

Fifty of the country’s loveliest were presented to the media and other guests as the official candidates for Bb. Pilipinas, which celebrating its golden milestone this year. In swanky style, the 50 young Filipinas who come from almost every corner of the Philippines and from abroad sashayed in front of sponsors, guests and members of the press during a luncheon event at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel. These girls have been chosen out of more than a hundred hopefuls who trooped to Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) early this year. Since 1964, BPCI has been the country’s prestigious discoverer and trainer of young ladies who represent us in well-known international tilts. In a span of 5 decades, BPCI has proven its caliver as a credible institution that eyes this potential candidates, vaunting a resume that begins with Gloria Diaz’s Miss Universe win in 1969 and Janine Mari Tugonon notable 1st runner up title in 2012. Recently, public interest and corporate partnerships increased because of the impressive back-to-back top 5 finishes of Venus Raj, Shamcey Supsup and Janine Tugonon in 2010, 2011 and 2012 respectively. To complement BPCI’s 50 beautiful years, pageant organizers have been chosen 50 girls who will vie for following crowns: Miss Universe-Philippines 2013, Bb. Pilipinas-International 2013 and Bb. Pilipinas-Tourism 2013. The 2013 rooster of candidates includes local pageant winners, cum laudes from top schools, experienced performers from entertainment industry, working professionals and models that went through extensive trainings and preparartions even before they joined the 3-day rigorous screening for the competition. Earlier this week, the ladies turned carpenters for a day at the Julio Iglesias-Araneta Center Gawad kalinga homebuilding project in Tanay, Rizal. The binibinis shoveled, sifted cement and transported hollow blocks for a day. They also put smiles on children’s faces as they held story-telling session and fed Gawad Kalinga benificiaries. The 2013 Bbb. Pilipinas candidates have lot on their plates. A parade of beauties is in the works on April 5. This will mirror the pageantry and festivity of the the Mardi Gras at Rio de Janiero. The grand Coronation Night will be held on April 14 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and telecast live at ABS-CBN. The Bb. Pilipinas 2013 pageant is presented by Araneta Center, ABS CBN, CreamSilk, Pond’s, San Miguel Brewery, Ginebra San Miguel, San Miguel Food, Petron Corporation and San Miguel Global Power., together with Avon, JAG, Pizza Hut, PAL, David’s Salon, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Joylong Vans, Picture City, Gold’s Gym, Dale Carnegie Training Center, Enterprenuer School of Asia and Charter Ping An Insurance Corporation.
