Newly crowned Miss Philippine Youth 2020 Patricia Angela Cruz together with some close friends and members of the Core Pageant group went to Batangas early morning of January 19, Sunday and conducted a relief operation to the evacuees from Taal Volcano eruption a week ago. Instead of holding a victory party the sixteen year-old beauty from Pola, Oriental Mindoro decided to provide immediate assistance to the victims of the natural disaster.
First stop was in Tanauan National High School , a temporary shelter to approximate 1,700 evacuees from the nearby town of Talisay and the final pit of the distribution is in the town of San Jose where some residents played hosts to other victims of the eruption in nearby places. Basic needs like food, clothes, blankets and mats and other hygenic kits were distributed with the help of some staff from the local government of Pola, Oriental Mindoro deployed at the evacuation centers. Incumbent mayor Jennifer Mindanao Cruz aka Yna Alegre was visible during the operation to make sure that everything is in order.
Also present during the relief operations is the counterpart of Patricia, the newly proclaimed Mr. Philippine Youth 2020 Kyle Patrick De Guzman and Bb. Pilipinas 2018 semi finalist Patrizia Garcia and Ms. Jovita Laureola.
The province of Batangas was declared under the state of calamity caused by volcanic phreatic eruption, earthquakes and ash falls that covered the towns of Agoncillo, Laurel, Taal, Talisay, Lemery and nearby towns of the active volcano since January 12.
