A ONE OF A KIND THREE- WAY PAGEANT LAUNCHED

The Department of Health (DOH) launched a one of a kind three-way pageant that will help in reducing the alarming cases of Human Immunodefiency Virus (HIV) in the country and to educate the people on how to rid of with the dreaded virus and above all, to encourage the people living with HIV to be more cautious and continue their medication.
Called the LHIVE FREE REDVOCATES, the search for 2018 HIV/AIDS Advocacy Ambassadors, DOH launched the campaign together with Miss International 2016 Kylie Versoza last August 2, 2018 at the Penthouse of West Avenue Suites in Quezon City. The event was well attended by the members of tri-media (television, newspaper and blogs). Aside from Ms. Versoza, present during the launch are Dr. Jose Gerard Belimac Program Manager National AIDS/HIV STI Prevention and Control Program – DOH, Marione Callo-Briones VP research and Operation, Integrative Competitive Intelligence Asia, Inc. (ICI-ASIA), and Mr. Rodin Gilbert B.flores, a well known beauty queen maker in and out of the country and events director.
Health Secretary Francisco T. Duque III extend his message to all attendees of the event that the best thing we can do to fight HIV/AIDS and its effects is to use sound methods that address multiple issues tied with it. He reiterated that we cannot deny the fact that HIV and AIDS cases in the Philippines continue to rise and one of the most significant manner to educate the people is through social media and other tools necessary to reach the people.
On the other hand, Dr. Belimac says that they decided to infuse pageant in promoting awareness of the disease because they believe through this process many people will get interested, knowing that the country is considered nowadays as the pageant capital of the world. Mr. Rodgil Flores is hoping that the staging of the pageant will serve as a catalyst and will trigger for other nations facing the same problem to do the same. He also stress out his goal for the public to focus to where it’s really supposed to be – which is the issue at hand, the growing number of HIV infected individuals.
For the inaugural presentation of the pageant, the organization is looking for exemplary individuals (men, women and transgender) who are willing to be champions of this campaign. It is open to individuals aged 20-26 years old who have good communication skills and are passionate about campaign cause. The eventual winners will receive various trainings to have a thorough understanding of the HIV/AIDS condition and the kind of mental state that the individuals who have it. Together with Ms. Versoza, they will represent the DOH in various events and activities intended to help spread about the condition and as well as to be the voice for the campaign.
Aside from being the spoke persons of DOH, the three grand winners will each receive P100,000.00 in cash and other valuable prizes from sponsors. The coronation night will take place on September 28, 2018 at the SMX Convention Center Manila.
