Forty-three environmental savvy beauties were officially presented to the members of the media as this year’s candidates for Miss Earth Philippines 2018.
The press presentation was held at the pool side of Diamond Hotel along Roxas Blvd., Manila, the pageant Official Residence. As the country reaches the peak of the summer season, Miss Earth Philippines 2018 supports the move of the government to promote a more sustainable environment, especially with the influx of vacationers in popular tourist spots.
In the wake of the government’s order to rehabilitate one of the country’s top tourist destinations, Miss Earth Philippines thought its best to support the drive for a cleaner environment so that the same would not happen to other vacation spots.
“We are a country that ranks tourism as one of it’s major sources of revenue. It is only fitting that we become united in protecting these destinations from the effects of human activities. Of course, it doesn’t mean restricting people from enjoying these natural wonders, but teaching them to be mindful of their acts that can cause damage to the environment,” Ms. Lorraine Schuck EVP and Miss Earth co-founder says.
This year’s 42 stunners from all over the Philippines and Filipino communities abroad will compete in the annual search for ideal “beauty for a cause”. The delegates are all set to claim the title on the coronation night slated on Saturday May 19, 6PM at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The event will be streamed live on the pageant’s official Facebook page and will have a telecast on ABS-CBN on Sunday, May 20 at 10AM.
Outgoing queen Karen Ibasco, who is also the reigning Miss Earth titlist, will crown her successor during the final night that promises to be another spectacular television special
