By Noli A. Berioso
Fifteen Ocean Ambassadors were presented to the members of the press as this year’s official candidate for the 2017 edition of Miss Scuba Philippines. Sherlyn Legaspi Doloriel was voted as Darling of the Press with El Fel Shane Banaybanay and Angela Gene Valdes as runners-up.
Miss Scuba Philippines National Director Cindy Madduma with the other members of the Executive Committee (Athena Catriz and Andrea Delgado) were very ecstatic that the pageant finally took off and heading to become another promising and exciting national pageant in the country. Cindy by the way is the first Filipina to win the Miss Scuba International title way back 2015 in Malaysia. She believes that this is the perfect time to introduce a pageant that has a genuine advocacy that is devoted to protect and preserve a sustainable marine biodiversity for our oceans. As a pledge to the initial year of the pageant, she promise that the organization will give light to the issues and problems that our oceans is facing and what they can do to create an impact and reverse that destruction. Saving Ocean Through Beauty is the core principle of the organization. It upholds not only showcasing physical beauty and the superficiality but also provides the necessity for our ambassadors to have a heart for the ocean.
