MISS WORLD PHILIPPINES 2017 KICKS OFF TO AN EPIC START
Noli A. Berioso and Jory Rivera reports for OPMBWorldwide
Miss World Philippines 2017 was officially launched July 7 at New World Hotel in Makati City with its new organizers. The event was hosted by Kapuso star and 24 Oras Chika Minute anchor Iya Villania.
National Director Arnold Vegafria promises to make this year’s pageant more epic and trendsetting, fusing the best elements from Filipino culture with a dash of showbiz pizzazz – the better to promote local tourism and generate goodwill among all contestants.
He says” I am deeply honored and privileged to have been given this challenge, I am looking forward to continuing our mission of uplifting the image of the Filipina in the global pageant circuit, but even more importantly, it has been our priority to perpetuate the Miss World organization’s noble advocacy of Beauty With A Purpose”.
Living up to its prestige and honor as the longest-running major international pageant since its humble beginnings in 1951, the Miss World competition has held the country in high esteem since Megan Young’s victory as Miss World 2013.
Aside from the main crown, this year’s Miss World Philippines will also unveil three new titles, namely Miss Eco Philippines, Reina Hispano Americana Filipinas and Miss Multinational Philippines.
The Miss Eco International 2018 pageant will be held in Alexandria, Egypt on April 2018, Reina Hispano Americana 2017 coronation night will be held in Santa Cruz, Bolivia on November 2017 while Miss Multinational finals will be this December in New Delhi, India.
With its think tank compromised of the country’s top stylemeisters, fashion mavens, runway directors and pageant experts, this year’s Miss World Philippines core group promises a shorter but more fast-paced production, with a totally refreshing stylistic makeover.
Newly appointed MWP General Manager Bessie Besana remarks “ Its a great privilege to have been given a significant role and responsibility in this year’s Miss World Philippines organization. We promise to give the pageant a timely makeover and more stylish aesthetic that should make it more relevant for today’s millennial generation.”
In keeping with times, the Miss World Philippines organizers are alsokeen on reestablishing their more aggressive online presence through their newly-refurbished social media accounts- the better to interact with their thousands of pageant fans across the globe.
Aside from the grand production elements, this year’s Miss World pageant becomes more meaningful because of its renewed commitment to its charitable advocacies.
The Miss World Philippines organization has chosen the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center as its beneficiary, with particular focus on the care and rehabilitation of its indigent pediatric patients.
This year, the Miss World group will also be unveiling a new crown designed by Megan Young.
The Miss World Philippines pageant has been scheduled for September 3 at the SM MOA Arena, and will be telecast via GMA-7 on the same night.
Deadline for application is on July 22, 2017. Interested applicants may submit their documents together with their photos in person at the MWP Secretariat (Suite 507, Taipan Place, F. Ortigas, Jr., Ortigas Center) or email to: secretariat@missworldphilippines.org
