MR. GAY WORLD 2017 SEND-OFF PRESS CONFERENCE

A rousing send-off press conference was held in honor of Mr. John Fernandez Raspado last April 24, 2017 at Club 690 in Roces, Quezon City. John is the country’s official representative to the annual Mr. Gay World 2017 to be held on May 5-10 in Madrid and Maspalomas, Spain.
John will be competing along with more than thirty delegates around the globe. He was hailed from Baguio City and graduated at the St. Louis University with a degree in Marketing. He speaks English, Ilocano and Tagalog. He has a passion in extreme sports and physical fitness.
Mr. Gay World is a global competition that aims to inspire and empower gay men by giving hopefuls a venue to give importance to inner beauty and appearance as well as leadership and confidence.
The local franchise, Mr. Gay World Philippines Organization (MGWPO) is now headed by the first Filipino delegate who represented the Philippines in Whistle, Canada way back 2009 no other than Wilbert Tolentino. He encourage Raspado to join the pageant industry. John made his debut by winning It’s Showtime “I Am Pogay” last 2014 and continued his pageant career by competing the national pageant of Mr. Gay World Philippines. Tolentino is optimistic that Raspado will bring home the crown as the first Asian and Filipino Mr. Gay World.
Raspado’s national costume is inspired by a combination of the Spanish and Pre-Colonial influences of the country. The gold embellished metallic head piece was designed to symbolized the indigeneous mythical demigod “Sidapa”, a great warrior and patron deity of the homosexuals in the Philippines.
A well known international celebrity designer Rocky Gathercole created the costume. He is the Hollywood designer to the stars such as Jlo, Katty Perry, Nikki Minaj, Paris Hilton, lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Beyonce, Gloria Stefan, Toni Braxton, Mel B of the Spice Girls.
The costume cost a whopping $5,000 provided by MGWPO national director Wilbert Tolentino who also provides all the necessary wardrobes from swimwear, shoes, sportwear and the formal wear designed by fashion designer Leo Almodal. The whole ensemble cost $2,000.
