FILIPINO DESIGNERS OFF TO BANGKOK FOR A MAJOR FASHION EVENT

A group of Filipino designers are scheduled to leave the country on November 27 for Bangkok to participate in one of the biggest fashion events in the “Land of Smiles”.

The contingent is consists of eight promising and talented designers of the country and will be part of this year’s edition of Thailand Fashion Week. They are Roberth Gallardo III, Mary Jane Sauler, Anna Fuentes Ligaya, Shiela Yco, Jolaida Niccolai, Jhay Layson, Juvy P. Fantilanan and Aji Kamahalan. They were chosen from a group of local designers who were screened by the people behind the fashion event.

On November 29, they will have the opportunity to showcase their works during the Bridal Collections segment of the week long fashion event. Aside from the usual materials like tulle, lace, pearls and bead works, the participants infused some local and indigenous materials like sinamay to highlight the Filipiniana touch of their works. The bridal event will take place at Varavela Gardens in Bangkok. A special “Meet and Greet” took place last November 18 at Blackbeard’s Sea foods Restaurant in Araneta City, QC where selected members of the media got to know more the designers who will be part of #TeamPilipinas at the Thailand fashion Week event.

The fashion event will also feature some of the country’s up-coming ramp and commercial models. Sofhia Khatie Lorenzo, Jihayni Lacambra Hernandez, Yean Reveche, Zayra Domingo, Hannah Nicole David, Jackie Antonio, Jessica Claire Tapawan, Elweiz Gomez and Kim Micah Daniel. They will be wearing collections made by designers from neighboring Southeast Asian countries.
