FIRST IN THE METRO:ARANETA CENTER’S LANTERN AND ART LANES
Noli A. Berioso for OPMBWorldwide
Known as the premiere live-work-play community in the country, Araneta Center continues to evolve its milieu-from its high rise residential and office towers and entertainment and sports hubs to its wide-range malls and shopping centers.
However, the streets of Araneta Center have become quite the attraction as well.
Motorists and pedestrians cannot help but stop and take a snap of the instagram-worthy installations and drawings on the streets of Araneta, which were seen here first among leisure hubs in the metro.
Food-prints pavements
Aside drom various restaurants readily available in the Gateway Mall, Ali Mall and Farmers Plaza, the Manhattan Row is also gaining reputation as a welcome destinations for foddies in metro.
It is on this food stripwhere the public can also find Araneta Center’s Foodestrians Art Lane.
Conceptualized in May 2017 and completed in July that year, the pedestrian lanes on Gen. Malvar Ave. corner Times Square and Roxas Ave. corner Times Square are food-themed to complement the dining spots in the area.
The pedestrian lanes feature kitchen utensils, pastries, frinks and even ice cream-all painted by Fine Arts students from the University of the Philippines-Diliman.
Given the public’s positive response, there will be more artsy pedestrian lanes in other areas at the Araneta center.
Starry Nights
Manhattan Row continues to prove that it’s a big hit to the instagram generation with lanterns installed on Gen. Malvar Avenue in a stretch that spans the Manhattan Parkview and Manhattan Parkway up to the Kia Theatre.
Pedestrians and motorists who pass by the area find the lantern lit-literally and figuratively-with their captivating lights and design.
There are 524 lanterns on that strip, divided into 57 strips, which have been placed since July 2017.
The lanterns are made of local cloth, and powered by the more environmental-friendly LED lights. They are on from 6pm until 11pm.
