MUTYA DATUL’S HOMECOMING PRESS CONFERENCE

Mutya Johanna Datul, the charming and stunning 21-year old from Sta. Maria, Isabela, was crowned Miss Supranational 2013 at the Sports’ Palace in Minsk, Belarus, last September 6!

Mutya Johanna bested 82 other candidates to win the coveted title. Apart from winning the title, Mutya Johanna also won the Miss Personality special award.

This is the first win for the Binibining Pilipinas Golden Batch. The Binibining Pilipinas pageant is celebrating 50 beautiful years of producing stunning, intelligent, and charming global beauty queens. Since 1964, the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) has been the country’s prestigious discoverer and trainer of young ladies who represent us in well-known international beauty tilts. In a span of five decades, BPCI has proven its caliber as a credible institution that eyes these potential candidates, vaunting a resume that begins with Gloria Diaz’s Miss Universe win in 1969 and Janine Mari Tugonon’s notable 1st Runner Up title in 2012.

The Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. gave Mutya Johanna a very warm welcome as she arrived home from Belarus today at the Gloria Maris Banquet Hall at Gateway Mall. Mutya Johanna’s win is the first Miss Supranational title for the Philippines. This is the second time that the Philippines placed in the top 5 in the five-year-old pageant. Last year’s representative, Elaine Kay Moll, won 3rd runner-up.

The 5’8” stunner, a first-timer abroad, explored various landmarks with her fellow candidates during her three-week stay in Belarus. Among the places she visited were the National Library of Belarus, where she donated a book on the Philippines; the Krynica Factory, which makes beer, jelly desserts, and bread; the Nesvizh and Mirsky Castles, both of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites; the Bialowieza Forest near the Polish border; the Brest Fortress, an important Soviet World War II monument; and the St. Sophia Cathedral in Polotsk.

The Miss Supranational 2013 pageant was held at the Sports Palace in Minsk, Belarus. The annual international contest, run by the World Beauty Association, was founded in 2009. 83 beauties competed in this year’s Miss Supranational pageant. Following Mutya Johanna were first runner-up Jacqueline Morales of Mexico, second runner-up Leyla Köse of Turkey, third runner-up Cokorda Istri Krisnanda Widani of Indonesia, and fourth runner-up Esonica Veira of US Virgin Islands.

Rounding up the Top 20 were Hillary Ondo of Gabon, Raquel Benetti of Brazil, Esma Voloder of Australia, Veronika Chachyna of Belarus, Khin Wint Wah of Myanmar, Desiree del Rio of Puerto Rico, Annie Fuenmayor of Venezuela, Angelika Ogryzek of Poland, Suzette Hernandez of Canada, Thanyaporn Srisen of Thailand, Heloise Paulmier of Luxembourg, Vijaya Sharma of India, Yana Dubnik of Russia, Diana Kubasova of Latvia, and Kateryna Sandulova of Ukraine.

Mutya Johanna’s victory is an impressive addition to Binibining Pilipinas’ golden year, which was marked by big events such as the Queens’ Reunion Party last March and the Grand Coronation Night last April.

The Binibining Pilipinas 2013 is presented by the Araneta Center, ABS-CBN, and Creamsilk, and in cooperation with PAGCOR, San Miguel Corporation, and Avon.
