JANELLE TEE: MOVING ON… FROM BEAUTY PAGEANTS TO SHOWBIZ

Janelle Tee, the pride of Davao during the Miss Philippines Earth 2014 and Miss World Philippines 2015 is making waves in the showbiz industry these past years. She is very visible in television from the time she auditioned as one of the co-host of Willie Revillame for his comeback TV show Wowowin in GMA-7 way back 2015 up to her stint as a lifestyle host in Chinoy TV show of ANC. Last Sunday August 28 she threw a party at the Green Meadows Event Center in Quezon City for her fans as a gesture of appreciation for their unending support throughout her on-going showbiz career. She also invited selected media members.
Her life as a beauty queen – Janelle initially joined local search in her hometown. She was proclaimed as the grand winner in a model search for teens in 2007and Moda Mindanaw Evening Wear in 2011. She won the most important special award (Best in Community Project) during the Miss Davao search in 2010 where she travelled to Malaysia and Singapore as Ambassadress of Goodwill of Davao City. But did you know that even before she competed in the national beauty pageants level, Janelle already had a taste of international beauty contest? She was handpicked by a local franchise holder to represent the country in the Miss ASEAN pageant way back 2013 in Thailand where she was adjudged the most friendly delegate in the competition. This Davaoena beauty is fluent in basic Mandarin and Cantonese, English, Filipino and Visayan.
In 2014 she represented Davao City at the Miss Philippines Earth pageant where she landed as one of the semi-finalists and bagged several special awards (Best in catwalk, Best in Beachwear and Miss Hana Shampoo). She tried her luck again at the Miss World Philippines 2015 and ended up in a decent finish as a semi-finalist. She was trained under the popular beauty camp Aces and Queens headed by Jonas Gaffud. Her dream to become a national title holder was abrupt when she entered the showbiz industry.
Her life in showbiz –Prior to her current shows on TV, Janelle was already a host in a provincial shows in Davao during her teen years. She was part of ABS-CBN programs like Kapamilya Mall Shows, Kapamilya Mas Winner Ka ( a game show), Maayong Buntag Mindanao (morning show) and Mag TV ( magazine lifestyle show). In September 2015, her biggest break came when she was chosen as one of the co-host of Willy in his weekly Sunday game show Wowowin. After few months the management of GMA and Willy decided to make it as a daily afternoon show, a primer to their primetime news 24 Oras. The game show has clicked with the TV audience and was even extended from 1 hour to 90 minutes daily game show. The program gave Janelle the opportunity to show her hidden talent in hosting, dancing and singing. She began to draw a following who trooped the tapings in Kalayaan just to see her in person. She was a delight sight to many viewers on television along with fellow beauty queen Ara Arida. Until a petty misunderstanding happened that caused her exit from the game show last May. Today she already come into terms with Willy and to other staff involved on that small incident. “I am thankful to Kuya Wil for the opportunity and for all the things that I’ve learned during my 2 years stay in Wowowin, there are lots of things to be thankful and up to this day there so many blessings na dumadating, syempre dahil din yan sa exposure ko sa Wowowin”, she says. “Naka moved on na po ako from that suspension incident and I am focusing on my other projects,” she adds.
Today, Janelle is busy on her regular weekend TV show on Chinoy TV Channel , an affiliate of ABS-CBN where they features different topics from people, events, sports, fashion, food and health. She just wrapped up a movie project entitled DAD (Durugin and Droga) an indie film with an all star cast.
“I am very much grateful to all my supporters for always being on my side kahit sa oras ng mga pagsubok, sa lahat ng nagbigay sakin ng oportunidad sa showbiz, kay Kuya Wil, GMA and ABS…sana tuloy-tuloy na ito and I will do my very best para mapasaya ko ang mga takapagtangkilik ng industriya ng showbiz”, she ended.
