ROCO, ADLAWAN AND “HIGH TIDE” TOPS THE 2ND TOFARM FILM FESTIVAL AWARDS NIGHT

“High Tide”, a narrative film inspired by actual events happening in the country as a result of climate change was named Best Film at the 2nd TOFARM Film Festival Awards Night held at the Rizal Ballroom of Shangri-La Makati Hotel Sunday, July 16. The movie directed by award winning film editor Tara Illenberger bested five other official entries in the festival.
Irma Adlawan and Bembol Roco romped-off the Best Actress and Actor honors respectively portraying as a couple in the movie “What Home Feels Like” about a seaman who struggled with his estranged relationship with his family being away for many years. The film also won the 2nd best picture, best director for Joseph Abello; best story and screenplay and musical score.
High Tide also got the Special Jury Award for best ensemble performance, best cinematography and best in editing. Instalado a science fiction movie set in a farm village a few years into the future bagged the 3rd best picture, best supporting actress, best supporting actor and best sound. Roger Gonzales (Kamunggai) tied with Roco for best actor
Entertainment numbers were provided by Bayang Barrios, Fifth Element and Kapuso heartrob Ruru Madrid. The awards night was hosted by loveteam on and off the screen Carla Abellana and Tom Rodriguez. It was a star studded event with major stars in attendance like Christopher de Leon, Edu Manzano, Gabby Concepcion, Isa Calsado, Ana Capri, Chery Pie Picahe, Aiza Seguerra, Ynah Feleo, Laurice Guillen, Joel Torre among others.
Ms. Milagros How is the Executive Chairwoman and President of the festival while award winning director Maryo J. Delos Reyes is the over-all festival director.
