MR. AND MS. CALAMBA NOW ON ITS 3RD YEAR!

The City of Calamba presented 40 young hopefuls for the titles of Mr. and Ms. Calamba 2016 last November 14 during city’s Monday morning flag ceremony. Mayor Justine Marc “Timmy” SB. Chipeco, Calamba City Mayor, said that this year’s fresh faces will be vying for the most coveted title and will represent the city in various beauty tilts, including the upcoming G. and Bb. Laguna next year. He is also optimistic that the city will produce candidates for the prestigious Bb. Pilipinas pageant who will eventually represent the country in the Miss Universe.
“With the Ms. Universe 2017 to be held here in the Philippines, it is high time that the birthplace of our National Hero be also known as the hometown of Filipinas with beauty and wit who will bring pride to our country like Miss universe 2016 Pia Wurtzbach, “ Chipeco said. “We were inspired by the success of one of our 2014 winners, Alexandra Mae Rosales who won as 1st Runner-Up in the Miss South East Asia Tourism Ambassador Pageant held in Kula Lumpur, Malaysia last October 2015 and we wish to continue to produce more beauty queens from Calamba,” Chipeco added.
From humble beginnings as Bb. Calamba in 2011, the annual pageant has evolved into Mr. and Ms. Calamba in 2014 and has become one of the most awaited major events in the city. The pageant’s main vision is to develop local talents who will be in the forefront of the city’s tourism promotion. The title holders will also be the ambassador and ambassadress of goodwill and faith and will be the official representatives of the city in the national and even international beauty tilts. The winners will receive a cash prizes of P70,000.00 each while 1st to 4th runners-up will be receiving P55,000.00, P40,000.00, P25,000.00 and P10,000.00 each respectively.
Candidates will be attending the start of the city’s Christmas celebrations in the lighting of the Giant Christmas Tree at The Plaza on November 15. Grand Coronation night will be on December 3 at the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Gym. Sponsors include the Department of Tourism Southern Tagalog, Air Asia, Boysen, Jolibee, Puregold, Republ1c Wajepark, JCI Calamba Dimasalang, Kiwanis Cluvof Souther Tagalog Philippines, Colegio de San Juan de Letran and 88 Spa and resort. Mr. and Ms. Calamba 2016 is directed by Gareth Blanco of Icon888 Productions.
