True to the legacy of Beauty with a Purpose, the Miss World Organization delegation arrived in Manila for a 2-day visit in order to to attend its charitable causes. The delegation composed of Miss World 2015 Mireia Lalaguna and Mr. World 2016 Rohit Khandelwal together with Mr. Steve Douglas have included in their itinerary an important visit tom the Miss World “Beauty with a Purpose” Ward, a Hematology and Oncology Pediatric Isolation Area.
Miss Alice Eduardo, President and CEO of Sta. Elena Construction and Development Corporation, donated the Php 10M ward for the terminally-ill cancer stricken children. It was in the urgent need list of PGH, the country’s biggest national hospital. It was inaugurated in 2015 by Miss World 2013 Megan Young, Miss World 2014 Rolene Strauss, Mrs. Julia Morley, Ms. Alice Eduardo and Ms. Cory Quirino.
Since then, the place has been finally completed and fully operational to attend to 30 immuno-compromised children.
Cory Quirino, National Director of Miss World Philippines announced that they have permanently adopted flagship projects through PGH Medical Foundation led by its Chairman, Dr. Greg Alvior and the Tuloy Streetchildren Village Foundation headed by Fr. Rocky Evangelista.
Shw reiterated that it was only through the generous support of Ms. Alice Eduardo that Miss World Philippines’ dream became a concrete reality to have its own “Beauty with a Purpose” ward. To date, the mortality rate of patients has been reduced drastically.
