Meet Mrs. Universe Southeast Asia Philippines 2016
May 10, a day after the national election was an important day for forty year-old Maryrose Salubre. It was the day that she met up with the members of media during her “Meet and Greet” event. Maryrose, a true blue Pinay who is based in Sydney, Australia is the official representative of the whole Southeast Asian region for the Mrs. Universe Pageant in Guangzhou, China coming August this year. “I am very much excited to represent not only our beloved country but the entire region of South East Asia.
Not everyone has been given an opportunity like this in a prestigious and huge international beauty pageant like Mrs. Universe”. Maryrose is a native of Leyte and she recalled that her first pageant was way back when she was sixteen year old. “I joined the Miss PIC then, (Philippine Independent Church) and luckily I brought home the title”. She was spotted by beauty pageant connoisseur and Mother of All Pageant Ovette Ricalde and immediately offered her the right to compete in the pageant. “After I had a thorough assessment, and saw her potential I did not waste a single minute to convince her to be my hand picked for the contest”, Ovette says.
Maryrose is a mother to a wonderful boy and currently studying Law in Sydney. “Someday, I would want to help those people who cannot pursue their case in the court because of lack of money, I believe that everyone is entitled to give hear their side and eventually to serve justice to them”. In preparation for the pageant, aside from the physical aspect, Maryrose is preparing for the presentation of her platform on women’s violence, the pageant’s main concern. “I think I can handle this pretty well, and of course like what the other previous candidates advise just enjoy every moment of the contest, winning the crown will be the bonus”, she ended during an interview over lunch at Alex II restaurant in Tomas, Morato, QC.
