MISS PHILIPPINES-EARTH MARKS 15TH YEAR

No other national pageant has proven that a beauty competition can be effective platform to push for a significant reform in attitude and action. For the past 15 years, Miss Philippines-Earth has provided the stage where responsible beauty queens are crowned and the mission to promote a sustainable environment can be accomplished even if one is wearing a pair of heels.

It has been a truly worthwhile journey for Carousel Productions in mounting the annual advocacy-driven pageant. The concept that was once met with raised eyebrows has clearly established its position in the beauty pageant and its pro-active queens are widely embraced by beauty pageant aficionados all over the country.

Carousel President Ramon Monzon expressed that the company is very proud to have changed the way people look at women with crown and sash. “Our title holders are living proof that beauty is more than skin deep. Aside from celebrating their physical attributes, their dedication to the pageant’s cause is what made earn and be worthy of their crowns”. Mr. Monzon said.

As Miss Philippines-Earth enters its crystal year, the pageant is, more than ever, crystal clear with its goal to reach more people in promoting the importance of saving and protecting the Earth. In addition to the initiatives of the Miss Earth Foundation, the social and civic arm of the pageant, Miss Philippines-Earth 2015 will see through a number of undertakings to further its cause and sustain the interest of Miss Philippines-Earth supporters.

A new crown will be unveiled on the grand coronation night. Renowned jewelry and accessories designer Arnel Papa was commissioned to craft the crown that will mark the pageant’s crystal year.

Forty-one young ladies from all over the Philippines will be competing to become the 15th Miss Philippnes-Earth. They were presented to the members of the media last May 7 at the pool side of Manila Diamond Hotel, this year official residence of the pageant. From this remarkable batch of hopefuls, one lucky lady will follow the footsteps of her predecessors who made a name for themselves in different fields. To date, the Philippines is one of the three countries that have won the prestigious crown twice, Brazil and Venezuela being the other two.

The grand coronation night will be on May 31, Sunday, 6pm at the MOA Arena with telecast on the same day on ABS-CBN at 10:30pm. Miss Philippines-Earth is presented by Hana Shampoo in partnership with SM Supermarket, SM Hypermarket and Savemore Market.
