Miss Tourism Philippines, the first national pageant for the year 2015 that deals on tourism was officially launched last January 27 at Luxent Hotel in Timog, Quezon. Present during the event is the President of the pageant Mr. Carlos Leongson. He said that he come up with the idea of organizing a pageant on a national level when the Department of Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez called up and asked to promote the tourist destinations of the country to the domestic travellers.
One of their vision is to be to most extensive pageantry in the country, a truly big beauty contest ever to happen involving all the cities and municipalities nationwide. A total of 1,634 Miss Tourism Ambassadors will be proclaimed in March of this year by way of selection thru Municipalities and Cities of which 81 will be chosen as official candidates. During the finals of the pageant in July, two winners will be proclaimed. One winner will be the official representative of the Philippines in the Miss Tourism World to be held in Japan this October and the other winner will compete at the Miss Tourism Universe happening this August in Lebanon.
The pageant is being presented in cooperation with the Department of Tourism and the Department of Interior and Local Government. Upon the proclamation of the 81 lucky Tourism Ambassadors to be held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), a seminar will be conducted with the topic “Defining Role of A Miss Tourism Ambassador”. The 81 Ambassadors will be grouped into region from 1 to 13 plus NCR, CAR and ARMM. A series of pre-event competition will be held prior to the coronation night namely, Swimsuits, Evening Gown, Cultural and National Costumes, Gala Show, Fun Shoot and Personal Interview.
Aside from Mr. Leongson, the people behind this beauty contest are as follows- Mr. Daimler Flores-Treasurer, Mr. Francisco Blanco- Production Director, Atty. Edmund Altuna-Corporate Secretary, Mr. Billy Lim-Marketing Director and Mr. Carlos Charney Leonson II- Admin Head and Advertising.
The coronation night of Miss Tourism Philippines 2015 is set on July 25, venue to be announced. Aside from the two winners there will be four runners-up.Image may be NSFW.
