Twenty-three year old Ferina  Juny-Ann Pasciolco Carpio is all set to compete at the Miss Asean 2014 pageant to be held in Chang Rai, Thailand from December 25-30, 2014. This stunner hails from Muntinlupa City and a familiar face in the field of beauty pageant. She joined a number of national beauty contest before finally decided to try the international pageant arena. “ I know that this time, I am more than ready to compete internationally” says this five-foot seven Mass Communication graduate of Assumption College San Lorenzo.  Ferina is battling it out with the most beautiful women around the South East Asian region for the prestigious title of Miss Asean 2014. “ It will be a big honor and challenge  for me to represent the Philippines especially this time where most of our representatives had placed among the top winners in almost all of the major international pageants. The pressure will be there but I have the courage and experiences that I had gained these past years. I am also lucky that I have the full support of my parents and friends.

Aside from being a model, Ferina also works as an artist on television (ABS-CBN). She was one of the Maleta Girls of the top rating game show “Deal or No Deal and was also featured in some of the network shows. She also did commercials both for print ads and TV. In preparation for her coming pageant, she undergo extensive training for all aspects of the competition. From pasarela, social grace, personality enhancement to reading Asean history and current events for the dreaded Q and A. “ I had also previous trainings with the Kagandahang Flores camp (KF),  regarded as the most successful pageant camp in the country today. What they taught me on trainings will surely help for my quest in winning the crown”, she added.

So far, in the history of Miss ASEAN, our country has produced two winners – Marianne Anicoche won the title in 1990 held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Jhezarie Javier in Bali, Indonesia way back in 2005. “ It is high time that the Philippines have to win another Miss ASEAN crown”, says Ovette Recalde- the local franchise holder and owner of Mega Star Productions. He is also the international coordinator and consultant for this year edition of Miss ASEAN. He designed the logo which will be the official logo of the pageant. “ Ferina has all the qualities that the organizers is looking for a winner. She is prepared physically and mentally. Btw, she will be joined by another Filipina in Chang Rai. Eighteen year old Tourism student Guillen Gardose Diaz. Each Asean countries has two representatives” Ovette adds.

Exciting prizes awaits the winners this year. Aside from the crown and sash, Miss ASEAN will going to receive cash prize of 1 million THB.
