Miss Asia Pacific International 2019 Chaiyenne Huisman starts off her duty in
promoting diversity
“We are all unique in our own way, and that’s okay.” Lifted from her moving
pageant answer that won her the crown, this is how Miss Asia Pacific International
2019 Chaiyenne Huisman would end her inspiring talks in a series of advocacy
events as part of her duty as the reigning queen.
After a brief holiday break back in her hometown, the Spanish beauty queen recently
got back to the Philippines to start her work on promoting beauty in diversity with the
organization. “It’s exciting to be back,” says Huisman. “Seeing the world as it is, I
realize there is a lot of work to be done. Miss Asia Pacific International has given me
this platform, and while it’s truly an honor, I also understand that it is a responsibility.”
In partnership with the Philippine counterpart of international women civic organization
Inner Wheel Club, through its Paraiso chapter, Huisman shared positivity in the
organization’s outreach to Brgy. Holy Spirit in Quezon City. After speaking to the
residents on the importance of embodying optimism, she spent time with the kids in a
storytelling activity and a timely proper hygiene lecture.
Huisman was also a featured guest speaker in the recent mental health advocacy
conference Help Summit through a partnership with iVolunteer PH. Speaking to 500
students in Miriam College, she reiterated the value of embracing diversity and
positivity in promoting mental health. The audience found inspiration as she shared her
personal experiences in dealing with mental health. “We have to accept that
sometimes, it’s okay not to be okay. We are all different but we are all beautiful and
we are all worthy.”
On top of paying a visit to Miss Asia Pacific International partners, Huisman is looking
forward to the series of activities where she can share her advocacy of diversity during
her reign. She also plans to see the wonderful Philippine sights and learn as much of
the Filipino language as she can: ““By the end, I want to add Filipino in the languages I can speak".
