FIL-CANADIAN BEAUTY APPOINTED MISS GLOBAL PHILIPPINES 2019
Risa Raquel Santos, a Filipino-Canadian beauty from Calgary was appointed Miss Global Philippines 2019 earning her the rights to represent the country in the coming Miss Global 2019 beauty pageant to be held in Mexico early next year.
Her appointment was officially announced last November 26 to the members of the media during the crowning and send-off ceremony held in the new tropical rooftop lounge Topic in Poblacion Makati City. She takes over the title from outgoing Miss Global Philippines Eileen Gonzales.
“I am honored to have been chosen to represent the Philippines in the Miss Global pageant”, Santos said. “I will definitely do my best in the competition and hopefully, win the first Miss Global crown for the Philippines”, she adds.
Risa is a veteran of beauty pageants. She represented Canada in the Miss Earth 2006, Miss World 2011 and Miss Universe 2013. Her extensive experience would work well to her advantage when she cpmptes once again.
Santos is currently a technology executive, working as the Vice-President of Argyle Fox, Inc. In addition, she is a passionate singer and song writer. Sje is a classically trained mezzo soprano. As a TV personality, she had guest appearances in various television programs, and was in the highly popular primetime show Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 2.
Present during the send-off party were Miss Global Philippines executives led by CEO and Pageant Director Pauline Sofia Laping and chairwoman of Miss Global Foundation Rizza Lao and the current title holder of Miss Global 2018 from Hong Kong Sophia Ng.
“We are very proud to appoint Risa as the country’s representative to the Miss Global pageant”. Said Laping. She is a very articulate, intelligent and confident woman, and we are confident that she will continuous success streak in the pageant”.
Now on its 7th year, Miss Global has been known for being a pageant that empowers women from all over the globe, having the widest age range in pageantry. The Philippines has finished among the Top 5 from 2014 to 2016.
Miss Global will have its grand coronation night on January 18, 2020 in Oaxaca, Mexico with close to 70 participating countries. The Philippines played host to the pageant in 2015, 2016 and 2018.
