MISS ASIA-PACIFIC INTERNATIONAL 2018 SHARIFA AKEEL VISITS TEENERS IN GIRLSTOWN

Reigning Miss Asia-Pacific International 2018 Sharifa Akeel visited the Sisters of Mary Girlstown in Silang, Cavite last February 16, 2019 as part of her many activities
The 23 year old muslim beauty participated in a tree planting ceremony inside the vicinity of the girlstown which houses more than three thousand students coming from the different parts pf the country. These underprivileged teenagers (all girls) were selected and pre-screened to become part of the exclusive girlstown under the supervision of 45 nuns (administrative staff) from the Sisters of Mary.
The event was made possible thru the help of Junior Chamber International (JCI) led by Mr. Kurt Soliman of Makati chapter. The organization is composed of young and energetic young proffesionals from the different parts of the Philippines. One of their main obkejtives is to conduct out reach programs to less fortunate people.
Sharifa shared her life inspiring story to all the students on how she also struggled as a child and became successful in her chosen vocation. Aside from being an international beauty title holder, Sharifa is now a certified teacher.
During the event , she was accompanied by MAPI officers and staff led by Mr. Onin Mass and Mark Charles Isidro.
The beauty pageant, one of the oldest in the universe is being chaired by Ms. Jacqueline Tan-Sainz with a tag line “Beauty in Diversity”. The 2019 edition will kick off on the last quarter this year. MAPI’s main objective and mission is to provide opportunities for young women to develop their skills, achieve their highest potential, and be the epitome of a strong, empowered. and confident woman and to become a platform for women to learn, improve, and ignite positive change within herself, and the global community.
