JAPANESE MUSICIAN PLANS TO INVADE THE RAP MAINSTREAM IN THE PHILIPPINES
Noli A. Berioso
Hakkaido native musician DJ Rapper King Tomoro is currently here in the Philippines for his monthly vacation. Since he fell in love with the country and its people, the thirty one year old Japanese artist and businessman makes it a point to visit the Philippines at least once a month.
“I first came here in your country April this year, and since then I always look forward to come back because I learned to love your people and its climate which is similar to my place back in Japan and also to share my music to all party goers”, Tomoro says. A special “Meet and Greet” event was held last October 24, 2018 at Sekitori Authentic Japanese Restaurant in Mandaluyong City to officially announced his intention to start his recording career in the country and to expand his territory in the Asian region. The event was made possible through the help of his friends led by Mr. Otek Lopez and Atorni Ton of RHTV where members from the tri-media (television, newspaper and blogs) were in attendance.
The six-footer and broad-shouldered musician started his musical career 14 years ago. He established his own music and video production when he turned 21. He is also a restaurateur, an advertising agency and movie production outfit owner. Aside from the Philippines, he also travelled other countries such as China, Indonesia, Cambodia and New York where he further developed his craft and study music and shared to all the people who came across his path.
By January 2019, he plans to launch a couple of his collaborations with two established international singers here in the country. One is with Grammy nominee American R&B vocalist Shanice who popularized the song “I Love Your Smile” and the Billboard’s top 12 hit single “When I Close My Eyes”. The other singer is Alexandra Stan, a Romanian singer-songwriter who made a worldwide debut way back in 2011.
Part of his plans next year is to compose and produce recordings with some of the country’s famous rappers like Abra and others.
